6. Speed, John - KINGDOME OF IRLAND: Ireland as it was, & is Inhabited, the Site & Commodities of the Lland Described and Declared [MAP]. Bord Failte, Dublin, 1966. Map  Condition: Very Good- Color map folds open to approx 16 1/2" x 20 1/2" in size. This reproduction has the errata slip telling of the reproduction printed at Dollard Printinghouse, Dublin in 1966. Folded with color map on the inside and text pages 137 and 138 on the verso. One corner has a half inch straight-tear next to the fold that affects both edges. If framed would probably not show. An affordable facsimile edition of this rare map from Speed's "A Prospect of the Most Famous Parts of the World." originally issued London, 1676. Lower left corner states "Jodicus Hondius celavit". This famous and most decorative map of Ireland which has a double row of costumes in a left side panel, a large title cartouche flanked by winged cherubs, numerous sea creatures and tall sailing ships, a beautiful engraving technique, etc. READY TO BE FRAMED!
