Book: The Art of Tying the Wet Fly and Fishing the Flymph- James Leisenring

An uncommon flyfishing title for you anglers:

The Art of Tying the Wet Fly and Fishing the Flymph - James Leisenring, written by Vernon S. Hidy. This second printing was released in 1972 by Crown Publishers. First published in 1941. Hard cover, blue cloth, silver stamped titles. Small 8vo, 5-1/4" x 7-1/2", 160 pages with index. Illustrated with photographs.

Ernest Schwiebert wrote the introduction to this edition. He also wrote "Our myopic preoccupation with the dry-fly method, through reverence for Gordon and LaBranch, has resulted in such an oversight. American anglers have largely forgotten James Leisenring in following the more glamorous heroes of American fly-fishing, but it was Leisenring who quitely adapted the wet-fly tactics of Stewart and Skues to the fly hatches of American Waters

Chapters are devoted to the details of his method of tying winged wets and nymphs, accompanied by clear pen and ink illustrations and followed by a chapter detailing his favorite fly patterns. Dustjacket has some closed tears @ edges and is not price-clipped; a tight, clean copy with no markings!

Price: $60.00 (SOLD 8/8/11)

The Best Illustrations from 130 Years of The Brothers Grimm « Flavorwire

I will be adding this one to my wish list!

Few things from our childhood are as culturally universal as fairy tales, particularly those collected by the Brothers Grimm. These stories — CinderellaSnow WhiteSleeping BeautyHansel and GretelRapunzelPuss 'n Boots, and many more — have been reinterpreted and retranslated over and over around the world. An integral part of the experience and enjoyment of stories like these is the imagery, of course. After all, often some of our first experiences with stories comes from looking at illustrations while the text is read aloud. In what we think is a fairly brilliant move, Taschen's Noel Daniel has created a new compendium of some of the most well-loved Grimm fairy tales, each accompanied by the best vintage illustrations he could find, culled from the hundreds of adaptations, translations and reissues of the stories from the 1820s through the 1950s. In addition, the book's layout is accented by lovely original silhouettes from the 1870s interwoven with new silhouette designs created specifically for this publication. The only downside is that the collection doesn't come out until September, but click through for some images of the stunning illustrations to whet your appetite, and we're pretty sure you'll be pre-ordering your copy on the quick.

Cool retro Spartus Vanguard Camera for sale!

The Spartus Vanguard was made of plastic for 127 film by Herold Products of Chicago. Similar to the Spartus Rocket, but with a "COLOR - B&W" aperture selector. It has a detachable flash.

Approximate Dimensions of camera without flash: 3.5" wide x 3.25" tall x 2.5" deep.

The shutter works, but since I haven't tested the camera with film, I can't vouch for its functionality. Nonetheless, it would make for a great collector's piece and display item.

circa 1961. In makers original box complete with manual.

PRICE: $25.
