1981. NY: The Viking Press. First American Edition.

"For centuries the Dragon of Og has taken for food two bullocks a month from the lord's herd, but a new lord declares the custom must end, and so begins a battle of wits." This witty, exciting, and poetic story, based on an old legend of the Scottish Lowlands, has been brilliantly and delicately told by Rumer Godden. Exquisitely illustrated with vignettes, b/w drawings and full color pages by Pauline Baynes. This story comes from and old, old legend of Tundergarth and Corrie, it is not the same as the legend but this is how it came to the author. 60 pp.

Has scarcely visible dampstain to lower front cover, the dj has the faintest hint of lifting from this, dj is also price-clipped. Protected in an archival dustjacket cover, thus reducing the appearance. Endpapers in green with several styles of dragons illustrating them.
